6.2 MW Solar PV at Bidco Africa: Powering East Africa's Largest Edible Oil Plant

6.2 MW Solar PV at Bidco Africa: Powering East Africa's Largest Edible Oil Plant

This is the story of Kenya's most ambitious industrial solar deployment — 14,800 panels, 22 months of planning, and a payback period of under 4 years.

Bidco Africa's edible oil plant requires massive, continuous electrical power. To reduce grid reliance and operating costs, they embarked on Kenya's most ambitious industrial solar deployment to date.

Lean Energy Solutions designed and installed a massive 6.2 MW solar PV system, comprising over 14,800 high-efficiency panels. After 22 months of rigorous planning and execution, the system went live.

The installation now provides a substantial portion of the facility's daytime power needs, with a projected payback period of under four years. It stands as a landmark project for industrial renewables in the region.
