Tonnes of Waste Sent to Open Burning

Our supply chain is designed to be as green as the fuel it produces. By decentralising production and partnering with smallholder farmers, we bring industrial value to the heart of rural Kenya — turning waste that would otherwise be burned in fields into high-density energy briquettes that power Kenya's largest industrial facilities.

My coffee husks used to be a nuisance I burned every season. Now Lean Energy buys them from me — it's extra income I didn't expect.

Waste to Wealth

We transform agricultural residues — which would otherwise be burned in open fields — into high-density energy briquettes. This gives farmers additional income, prevents localised air pollution, and creates a circular economy that links rural agriculture directly to industrial energy supply chains.

Waste to Wealth

The 8-Feedstock Model

Lean Energy sources eight distinct agricultural waste streams — including sugarcane bagasse, coffee husks, rice straw, maize cobs, and sawdust — to ensure feedstock diversity and year-round production continuity regardless of harvest cycles. This model also spreads economic benefit across multiple farming communities.

Closing the Loop

Our briquette ash — a byproduct of industrial combustion — is collected from client facilities and returned to our farmer partners as a soil conditioner, completing a true circular economy loop. Clients benefit from waste disposal logistics; farmers benefit from free fertiliser.
