We are committed to creating high-quality employment opportunities where they are needed most. Our briquetting plants are community hubs — strategically placed in rural areas to hire women and youth first, offering structured training that equips them with portable, life-long skills in sustainable fuel production, safety, and logistics.
“Before Lean Energy set up here, there was nothing for us. Now I run a full production shift and I train new recruits every quarter.
Shift Supervisor — Kericho Briquetting Plant
Local-First Employment
Our briquetting plants are strategically located in rural areas where industrial job opportunities are scarce. We prioritise hiring women and youth from the immediate surrounding communities, ensuring economic benefit flows directly to those who need it most.
Structured Skills Development
Every employee undergoes a comprehensive six-week onboarding programme covering biomass processing, safety management, equipment operation, and quality control. We then provide monthly upskilling sessions — giving our workforce skills that are transferable across the broader green economy.
Pathway to Leadership
Over 40% of our current plant supervisors started as entry-level workers. We operate an internal promotion pathway that rewards performance, with clear milestones from operator to team lead to shift supervisor. Women currently hold 55% of supervisory roles across our network.
